About Waterloo Painters

Waterloo Painters is a booking line. It is not a painting company, and it is not a directory that sells your enquiry to a list of bidders. It connects to one local painting contractor working across the city — the student rentals around the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier, the condo towers uptown and along the ION line, the pre-war plaster houses in Mary-Allen and Westmount, the 1970s streets in Lakeshore and Beechwood, and the newer subdivisions in Laurelwood, Columbia Forest and Vista Hills — plus Kitchener next door and St. Jacobs, Elmira and the rural roads of Woolwich Township.

Painting has a particular selling problem. Anyone with a roller can call themselves a painter, because it is not a licensed trade in Ontario, and the difference between a good job and a bad one is invisible on the day it is finished. It shows up a year later as a crack that came back, trim peeling in strips, a stain bleeding through, or a condo neighbour complaining about the hallway. That attracts a certain kind of quote: a round number with no prep listed, a crew that turns up two weeks after the date, and paint straight onto stained wood because priming was not in the price.

The point of this site is a straight line to a contractor who carries liability insurance and WSIB coverage and can show both, looks at the walls before pricing anything, lists the prep line by line, names the product and the sheen, works to a repeatable spec for landlords, knows the rules in the uptown buildings, and shows up on the date the quote says.

What we will not do: publish reviews we do not have, invent a rating or a star count, call the painter licensed when the trade is not, show a portfolio of houses that are not ours, quote a fixed price without seeing the house, or sell your phone number. This site is new. It says what it can do and nothing more.

Why insurance is the thing to check

Because painting is not licensed in Ontario, there is no registry to look a painter up in. What you can check is that the contractor carries liability insurance for damage to your property and current WSIB coverage for the people on the ladder, so that an injury on your property is not your problem. The contractor behind this site has both and will show the certificates before work starts, and condo property managers who want them on file get them. What the contractor handles

• Rental turnover painting: student houses and units between leases, to a repeatable spec, batched for landlords with several properties
• Condo and apartment painting: uptown units under building rules, elevator bookings, permitted hours, low-odour paint
• Interior painting: walls, ceilings, trim and doors, plaster repair, stained trim to white, stipple removal, lead-era prep with containment
• Exterior house painting: wood siding, trim, fascia, soffits, porches, railings, front and garage doors
• Cabinet and trim painting: sprayed kitchen cabinets, vanities and built-ins, doors and railings

What it does not handle

Drywall installation and full replastering, which are their own trade; the crew patches and skims but does not hang board. Stucco. Commercial and industrial coatings, epoxy floors and line painting. Wallpaper as a main service. Roofing, eavestroughs and porch rebuilds. Where an exterior needs carpentry before paint, or a wall needs a drywaller before a painter, you will be told rather than have it painted over. Rental licensing and property standards questions belong to the City of Waterloo, and leftover paint goes to the Region of Waterloo's household hazardous waste program, not the garbage.

How this works

When you call 226-270-5302 or send the form, your details go straight to the painting contractor's office. They arrange a visit to look at the walls, trim and ceilings, or for a landlord with several properties, a walk through all of them in one trip, then quote the work in writing with the prep listed, the product and sheen named, and the days on site stated. The work is done under their own insurance and WSIB coverage. Your information is not sold, not shared with a list of competing companies, and there is no markup added to your bill for the introduction.

What we won't do

• Publish reviews we didn't earn. When we have them, they'll be real ones with names.
• Quote a firm price before someone has seen the job.
• Send anyone into your property who we would not have in our own.
